The Weaving Table: Why I’m Starting Threads of Counsel

There’s a kind of wisdom that lives in the knots—where fibers cross, tension holds, and stories pull against each other until something strong enough to carry us emerges. That’s where I live. That’s where this project begins.

Threads of Counsel is a space I’ve been dreaming about: a place to weave together strands from my work in nursing, law, disability justice, public health, and caregiving. A place to make visible what so often gets buried—context, complexity, contradictions, care.

This isn’t a newsletter, and it’s not a brand. It’s a weaving table.

I’m starting here because I need somewhere to think in public, build power through clarity, and honor the people and places that shape this work. Sometimes that will look like policy reflections or field notes. Sometimes it’ll be stories from my ferry rides, clinic days, or community tables. Sometimes it’ll be quiet, and that will be on purpose.

Some posts will be polished. Some will be a little unruly. All of them will carry something real.

I’m not here to perform expertise. I’m here to gather and offer counsel—drawn from lived experience, system knowledge, and a refusal to abandon complexity in favor of palatability.

If you’ve ever tried to repair something that wasn’t meant to be mended, you’ll feel at home here.

If you’ve ever carried a vision and a grocery bag and a kid’s IEP in the same hand, this is for you.

Welcome to the table. Let’s weave something durable.
